Birth Story from mummy

The caeserean was not as bad as I have thought. In fact, it was so much better than the previous emergency one I had with Caleb. Although I was really terrified + nervous in the operating theatre and even shed some tears when they put in the drip for me on my left arm and when they give me the spinal block on my back to numb me waist down for the operation. After that, Felix was allowed into the theatre and he sat next to my head. It was all good during the operation, couldn't feel any pain although i could feel the pulls and tugs. Before they delivered Caitlin fully out from my tummy, she already gave up a loud scream! It sounded like a cat! Felix even went to cut her ambilical cord and took some photos too! (He didn't get to do these when I had Caleb!) We had some bonding time with Caitlin in our arms as they start to clear up the mess...delivering the placenta then stitching me up.

I was lucky to be getting the bed right next to the window. At least I get some direct ventilation! Caitlin was put next to me in a bassinet as soon as I was transferred to my bed. I was still on drip and I had the urine bag attached plus a tube draining from the caeserean wound. As such, I was bedridden and I was not allowed to have anything to eat or drink. I did get to suck on some ice at least! And a little bit of water to go with my painkillers. And that was it. I had to look after Caitlin myself and got to breastfeed her every 3 hours. She was so tiny...so fragile...so cute! As I was bedridden, I put her next to me to sleep. Anyway, Felix went back to fetch his mum and Caleb over in the late afternoon to visit me and Caitlin. Caleb wasn't too impressed with Caitlin and he was not willing to touch her. Guess he is unsure who this baby is?!

On day 2, all the things attached to me was taken out and encouraged to walk to the bathroom to take a shower. It was really painful but I still managed to do it! And I am happy that I did! As I am tired being bedridden.

On day 3, only Felix came in the morning to visit. In the afternoon, he had to bring Caleb and his mum to the Wiggles Concert. (I was so disappointed that I couldn't go!) And in the evening, Felix has his graduation ceremony at Telstra Dome.

On day 4, I requested to be discharged as I felt better, another reason is that the shared toilet there is filthy...caused by some inconsiderate ppl! And the 3rd reason is to avoid the nightly stingy jab they give me on my thighs to prevent deep vein thrombosis (blood clot)!

It was nice back home again.
